maybe gray would be like (movie-style) liquid nitrogen?

cyan could maybe be a lightning strike, but the ground is blighted where it struck, and the blight spreads from there

Poison plus lightning makes me think of nerve damage. I can't quite pin it down but there's the possibility of a really terrifying villain there.
