there is an enormous class of centrists and liberals who truly were 100% unaware of politics in any meaningful sense prior to trump forcing them to notice

yeah this is especially baffling to me for people older than me because like. did you not see how racist people felt excused to be after 9/11. did you just think that was fine. let alone the other political issues it brought to light like surveillance or security theater. ahhh
