I want to give a suggestion today about some music you should listen to. This is the "serious" project of meme shitpost musician Erik Helwig, also known as Hot Dad.
If you've ever heard of Hot Dad, it's probably because of him being the Chowder Man from Hypnospace Outlaw. Yes, THAT guy. Usually he makes meme shitpost songs on Youtube, like the album that's all goofy shitposts about different wrestlers, or synthpop versions of meme songs like Summer Girls. He's very musically talented, he just usually uses it for silly shit. But none of his stuff has ever gotten all that big, despite the obvious buckets of talent he possesses.
And this brings me to Girls Who Care, and the only album for the project so far, "Light Sleeper". It's a rockier-side to his usual synth pop style, and is a completely serious album that sounds absolutely fucking fantastic. It's all very dreamy, which makes sense as that's the theme of the album, and is VERY worth your time, and is also VERY under appreciated. This song only has 9k views on Youtube. It deserves more than that, this song SLAPS. And the entire album is like that, bangers one after another. no skips.
Hot Dad's voice is very interesting for this album. He can do a few different singing styles, and the one here is really dreamlike. He's kinda slurring his words a bit, which does cause the one negative I can think of about this album: I can't understand the fucking lyrics. SPEAK UP, ERIC. I'm a big lyrics girl lol I like knowing and singing the lyrics, but he kinda mumbles a lot on this album. But the voice is almost just another instrument in the mix.
Anyways this is a really good album, give it a listen. Or at LEAST check out this one song I showed off, then go listen to the rest of the album after you realize how much of a banger it is.
