  • gosh I hope it gets less racist as time goes by
  • the bit where Brock always prioritizes saving the boys when them dying is an inconvenience at most is very good
  • Brock in general is very good. Patrick Warburton's voice is just inherently pleasant
  • I feel silly saying this but Dr. Girlfriend has meaningfully reduced my own voice dysphoria
  • it's not like she's good rep, there are a lot of transphobic comments about her, but she is also hot and has an unmistakably "masculine" voice and that means a lot
  • I kinda wish I had any context at all on the Hanna-Barbera stuff they're riffing on
  • I think the whole thing would cohere a bit better if the Monarch was like 10% more likeable. still not likeable in an absolute sense, but it feels like he was a cheap abrasive joke and that doesn't hold up now that he's such a major character

the jokes about her trail off and she's left as just a wonderful serious character everyone around her thinks the world of slash is attracted to

Dr. Girlfriend is a fav of a few friends of mine, and she's got some great spotlights throughout the series. The first few seasons are definitely the roughest and it definitely feels like there's less of that as the show goes on, but every time an incident does happen it definitely feels like early era adult swim and shows how that's aged (poorly).

early seasons are a bit rough (to put it lightly), but for my money it just gets better and better overall. doc and jackson have pretty much acknowledged that the comedy is edgy for edginess' sake in the beginning and you can 'feel' them grow as creators and individuals.

also dr. girlfriend might just be my favorite character on the show.

stick with it, i promise you won't regret it (or i hope)
