i performed in a middle school performance of high school musical. i played a member of the nerdy clique who was constitutionally opposed to types of teens having multiple interests. i had one line ("is that even legal?") in a musical number called "stick to the status quo" because subtext is for cowards.

you're walking along the halls and it's bright open spaces with great lighting and lots of windows and you turn a corner and bam it's a shitty american public school again
