presumably it was stolen. no one else had keys, she definitely left it in that spot, and it was probably physically impossible for a tow truck to fit into that corner of the garage. anyway god this sucks

i've had a look at what the situation is with our higher-end hyundai over the last couple years and it seems to still be solid but you need to have one of the newer, nicer-optioned keyless start models. otherwise they were comically theftable

and who knows it may be that they became that way again i have no idea. plus they all ship telemetry of when and how you fuck in the back seat now? truly cars are horrible

yeah a lot of kias/hyundais from like 2015 to... i think like 2021?? have a vulnerability that's easy to exploit. afaik you basically pop part of the steering column off and plug your phone into the revealed USB port and you can start it with your phone. it was like a big deal on tiktok a while back. i'm sorry your sister's car got stolen :(

Yep Kias are so easy to steal that people will steal a Kia just to use it in another crime.

Before they put in concrete bollards the local pot shop has someone steal a Kia and drive it through the windows at the front of the store to do a smash and grab. Twice. In the same month.
