mine is that magic systems that try and be all realistic and grounded instead of just letting you cast fireballs and stuff suck
teleport some rocks into a guy's head. make someone instantly age into a pile of dust. turn all the water in their bloodstream into alcohol
my hot take is kind of adjacent to that: magic that has fully developed systems with defined principles and rules isn't actually magic. that's just a different world's physics

I mean yeah this right here is why Mage The Awakening is so terrifying. Going to the effort of manifesting a full fireball is DIFFICULT and COSTLY. Giving a guy enough bad luck that he dies by accident is actually way easier.
