any recommendations on what flavor of linux? i'm more generally used to ubuntu and debian. i'd mostly be using it for shitposting, filling out online paperwork, and writing in google docs

But I find linux mint very good at being extremely simple to use and robust (and ubuntu based so not missing any resource on the web)
I concur, in my (limited)experience Mint is just Ubuntu But It Doesn't Suck As Much™
seconding mint. it's the least annoying, except for that wifi thing. i also recommend using MATE desktop environment over cinnamon and xfce.
