we have to kill instagram poetry. it's the only way we can move forward
for every rupi kaur there is one really good instagram poet who could be writing amazing poetry if they weren't writing digestible slop for instagram likes. for every gabbi hanna there is one person who can't find social media traction unless they're writing trite prose for an audience who honestly doesn't deserve their work. for every megan fox there's a young poet who could be finding real satisfaction and joy and release in their writing if they learned form or meter or scheme. we have to kill instagram poetry.
i don't like critiquing poetry bc i feel like poetry in particular is a much more subjective art form but insta poetry is it's own thing, imo. it's like the boomer facebook post of writing. some of my most viral posts back on twitter were insta poetry review threads and i don't really wanna bring that energy here, though i think it would be a lot less mean on cohost... but sometimes old man must yell at cloud.
Jesus yeah a lot of my shitposts I'd be more comfortable printing in a chapbook than this stuff
they just need some text to write in cursive over beach sunsets. you're not supposed to read it. it's like a beautiful leather-bound book full of blank pages, just meant to be displayed on a shelf
