I hate making posts like this. Well and truly. That said, if leads may follow then it behooves me to put out all the feelers I can.

I am a software engineer with Apple specialization and I have been doing phone/tablet/kiosk development for 12 years. I was let go from my last job at Alaska Airlines exactly one full-ass calendar year ago and it has been a never-ending dance of fools since then. The amount of bad interviews, rounds three, four, five - however many they’ve decided to waste our time with these days - and all the various flavors of offer rescinds I’ve had to deal with would make anyone crumble by now, and with ever increasing news of layoffs, hiring freezes, and general malaise all throughout tech and any adjacent industries, boy am I close. I was told it would not be this hard, that it isn’t this hard for someone with my degree of proficiency and experience. I was lied to.

I have had my resume gone over by professionals. I have done everything I have been told would increase my chances. They have not. The well feels drier than an oasis mirage, but I need to work to feed myself and my family. Work is not coming.

I am immunocompromised with type 1 diabetes and to add to this complete farce of a process no one will accommodate either my Covid precautions or my medical needs: temperature-regulated medication and a sterile environment for injections with constant monitoring. WFH was a tree I had been barking up for years and told it was not possible. The pandemic made it possible suddenly for a very long time. Now it’s no longer possible, and I know exactly why. But knowing does not keep me employed, so for all the good being remote-only did me and my health no one seems to give a good god damn anymore. I can’t go back to an office.

So here I am. An entire life savings of tens of thousands of dollars, 24 weeks of unemployment, an eviction and total life upheaval, and several panic attacks later, here I am. Somehow. Please help me find work. I don’t know what else to do. If you have any leads, please help me.
