oh i didn't realize people said "forward slash". always thought the forward part was assumed if you just said "slash"
have definitely used forward slash but usually only when specifically trying to differentiate it from a backslash
like if im stuck reading out a URL for someone for some reason it'll be "something something slash something dot html"
Personally I always say "forward slash", and only in the last few years have realized some people will just say "slash"!
Edit: On second thought not "always". I would say just "slash" in the case of reading a URL, or a file path, or command line options, etc.. When referring to the character on its own I'd definitely say "forward slash" though.
I was looking at the choices and was thinking "Am I crazy? Didn't we call it a forward slash?" It's definitely a forward slash.
