See, what's really weird is that some of these industrial PCs show up in the weirdest "prosumer" markets. My mother works for a tax prep chain and they have these, and I can only guess is that it has something to do with a certain security spec that can't be made by going with a normal NUC or a Minisforum box. They are modern boxes that have serial and printer ports next to thunderbolt ports. Like, not weird for an industrial PC, but weird for a tax prep office to have, you know?

Edit: I forgot to mention it has 2 PS/2 ports. That I know is a purposeful security feature.

Call me cynical, but like, how gravis said he thinks they're built because they're "easier" for people to use, without being told how to use something like a simple appliance. Like, old ppl who owned one of them Windows 95 thingies can take their old keyboard and mouse (that they used on Windows 95) and plug them in. It's an upsell to useless stuff you don't need, for a consumer who doesn't understand what they're buying
