i was trying to translate "nerd" into other languages and learned that Google Translate tends to really conflate insults

there are at least 5 categories of insult that it seems to think are equivalent:

  1. socially isolated
  2. dedicated to intellectual pursuits to the exclusion of other activities
  3. strange person
  4. sexual deviant
  5. moron
