Sennheisers have been my good headphones of choice for a decade.

I never questioned that the thing was big. they came with a big thing to small thing adapter. so I always used the big thing to small thing adapter.

but my new Senns did not come with a new adapter, even though the box said they should, because they must be a refurb or something that didn't include refurbing the adapter back into the box.

and my old adapters are now leaking a lovely shade of teal grease from betwixt the black thing and the gold thing.

so I pressed the new adapter button on Amazon. and the new adapter came. and then it wasn't deep enough for the big thing.

and while I was trying to wiggle the big thing into the hole that wasn't deep enough for the big thing, the big thing came off.

and there's a SMALL THING.

I CAN JUST USE THE SMALL THING.

WHY IS THERE USUALLY A BIG THING TO SMALL THING ADAPTER INCLUDED IF THE BIG THING ITSELF TWISTS OFF TO REVEAL A SMALL THING

OR AT LEAST WHY IS THE BIG THING NOT ALSO SEPARATED BY DEFAULT, I GUESS THERE ARE THINGS AUDIO PEOPLE LIKE THAT THE BIG THING WOULD GO IN AND THEN THE THING WOULD HAVE A BIG THING OUT TOO?

A fair amount of audiophile stuff uses a 1/4 inch jack (the big one) instead of the more common 3.5 mm jack (the small one)

Oh wow. You just made me check my own Sennheiser, but no, my 1/4” cable is really just a 1/4” cable. Makes sense though, that headphone also came with a 5/8” cable, it switches at the headphones lol

I first encountered that decades ago on some Sonys and thought it was super clever, congratulations on this being your lucky day to discover it! (I went and checked on my current Sony's and ... it broke off when I tried to pull it out! But I've still got the old one! They don't make 'em like they used to I guess!)
