I read the NYT review of the new Judith Butler book and they linked to an NYMag article which I really enjoyed by Andrea Long Chu

I like this framing of how trans kids should be allowed to have the freedom and right to bodily autonomy simply because they are humans and a part of the great diverse fabric of human experience.

In general, we must rid ourselves of the idea that any necessary relationship exists between sex and gender; this prepares us to claim that the freedom to bring sex and gender into whatever relation one chooses is a basic human right.

My reaction to the Andrea Long Chu piece was that I'm skeptical of her interpretation of Butler and found much of the essay frustrating in that way but also agree with all of the ultimate conclusions she makes so ¯_(ツ)_/¯. I can't remember any specifics at this point though.
