Over the summer I got to produce the new annual music festival, Do Better Fest 2022. I stayed at my dear friend Joey Z64's place for three weeks and over that time, one of the tools I became familiar with was our friend Ma¢leon's Mixars Primo, which I used to play music between performances. It's a DJ controller, it's pretty sick, I also got to play with it outside the festival itself. I wanted to get one of my own when I get my tax refund next year, but unfortunately the Mixars company no longer exists and it'll be tough to just find one on eBay so I don't expect to get it even though it's what I know. Ah well

The titular "Mixars Primo". It's a DJ controller

I think what'll happen is that I'll get the Hercules Inpulse 500. It's only like $300 and seems to have all the features I like. The secret of my using the Mixars Primo is that I didn't use like half the buttons and didn't know what they do, so this will be fine. The impression I get is that it's the best budget controller on the market. It'll be cheap and I'll have money left over to buy other stuff, such as a two-tiered keyboard stand to put it on above my M-Audio CTRL49

A different DJ controller, the Hercules Inpulse 500

... but I want it Today! I want it Now! DJing is so fucking fun. I love to blend songs together and roll the loop and play a little airhorn. You can be so funny with it. I wanna vibe and play songs all night and have so much fun. I had a fucking huge music library at one point, several hundred gigabytes big, but I lost it all because my hard drive fell off a table and my backup hard drive fell off a different table. I've been rebuilding it slowly, not just for listening but because it'll be cool when I have all these songs and I can mix 'em around and drop the beat and do cool transitions. I gotta rebuild it faster lol. There are specific transitions I have in mind to do. My brain has changed. I've been making beats for about a decade now, and it happens a lot that I hear a song and immediately hear in my mind's eye a fully-made beat using it as a sample, but now sometimes when I hear a song I'll hear in my mind a cool DJ transition I could do into a different song

It's also a very good, tactile feeling. I could in theory do it with only my laptop, there's a setting to map all the functions to the keyboard, but it wouldn't be the same... Half the fun is pressing the buttons on the object and spinning the wheel around and turning knobs. It's also fun to do silly things like set Mario noises on some of the sampler buttons and just play ones like "whoa" or "oof" during songs, like he's responding to the lyrics. I love objects. I do wanna stream again just in general but I wanna DJ on Twitch too and just kinda have a good time, dancing around my apartment and pressing buttons and yelling. There are other DJ controllers I have my eyes on but they're substantially more expensive and it looks like the Hercules will just be fine for what I wanna do. I just wanna lay the wax and spin the sound.

I don't know how to end posts. Here's my friend Ma¢leon rocking a set using the Mixars Primo and my laptop. You can tell it's my laptop because it has my name and visage on it. I also walk on camera at one point to eat a banana and sing an OutKast song. I can't wait to do this in real life
