Very strange development in the worlds of AI and rap beef, hot off the presses. So Drake and Kendrick Lamar are fighting right now, with Kendrick very publicly sending shots at Drake on Future and Metro Boomin's song "Like That" and starting a firestorm. Drake's response song "Push Ups" was leaked online before it was officially released, and before it officially came out people said it wasn't real, that it was AI, but it's real. Then a supposed response from Kendrick leaked, but that one turned out to actually be an AI fake. J. Cole and Rick Ross released songs too but they aren't relevant to this post. Now Drake has dropped a second track, this time using AI himself. He's got that AI voice filter on his first two verses to sound like Tupac and Snoop Dogg, respectively.
It feels insanely weird to do this with other people's voices, not just because Tupac is dead but also because Snoop Dogg is still alive. He doesn't change his writing style at all, so both of them just rap like Drake does, and also the Tupac voice kinda sounds bad. It's also weird because he's ribbing Kendrick for taking more than a few days to write a response when that shit used to take months, but people don't have attention spans anymore so everyone is posting 😂 emojis like Kendrick is owned. Where was this energy for Pusha-T? Also Drake's favorite media guy he talks to and the one who premiered "Push Ups" is DJ Akademiks, a streamer/podcaster who became famous by mocking murder victims and who currently has an exclusive contract with Rumble, which is Twitch For Nazis. What a weird guy, Drake is
This whole thing has kind of severely blown up since I made this post. Weirdly enough, basically all of the developments happened in time with my move to St. Paul lmao. Kendrick Lamar dropped "6:16 in LA" while I was on the plane here, I listened to it while I was sipping on some Caribou Coffee. Later that day I hung out with Tulip, and Drake dropped "Family Matters" and Kendrick dropped "Meet The Grahams" while we were out. I found out about those songs the next day when Joey and Luna came to visit, and then they left and I put on "Meet The Grahams", and by the time I was done listening to it "Not Like Us" had came out. I've been thinking about it a lot! As someone who cares deeply for rap music and who's been aware of both Kendrick and Drake since they each came onto the scene, this is a historic moment for the genre and for music as a whole. It got so crazy that I honestly completely forgot "Taylor Made Freestyle" had even come out lol
All this to ask: If I made a version of this post that's long as fuck and breaks down the whole thing from the beginning, would any of you read it? I've been considering it
Thinking about when Drake got dissed so hard that he had to accept a fatherly role in his son's life
My friend's album is on sale in physical form!! CDs with posters and a booklet!! It's good as fuck!! Stickers also available!! Get that shit!!!!!!
