That Size Artist from Twitter

Oh, I just had a thought about growth drives; I think the way Cohost handles shares is really not conducive to the sort of format that got started on Twitter.

Because if everybody starts sharing a post there you only see it on your timeline once, and not a new copy for every share from people in your network.

Honestly not really sure why Cohost has a system to just allow a single post to dominate your feed like that anyway. I don't really want sharing someone else's post to feel like I'm creating clutter.

Edit: Also I guess cohost's whole thing is "we want to de-prioritize engagement numbers" and a growth drive is "let's see how high we can push these engagement numbers" so there's a very fundamental conflict there too.

Yeah, my growth drive in particular is something I'm keeping track of by hand as far as Cohost engagement goes xwx; but I do approve of gravitating away from the format that's come to dominate spaces like Twitter. My main purpose for the growth drive is to incentivize folks to find my stuff elsewhere in a way that makes sense to the old "numbers go up" growth mentality. After that, I can focus on more fulfilling sizey projects for my audience to enjoy here, like stories.
