So. The company I work for makes websites and sells access to video content and this past year one of our engineers have been trying to implement DRM into the website's video player so that you can't screen-rip it.

And (big surprise) it's been a total shit-show to get it working and for no gain.

Different devices and OSes don't support the DRM software so the video breaks, it costs a bunch of money to the DRM key server to run it, it takes even more bandwidth and loading time to get the key exchange completed. Meanwhile, people will surely find a way to circumvent it eventually. If you're competent enough to be able to screen rip stuff, you'll definitely find a way to get around these measures.

Why the hell is my boss okay spending so much time and resources on this. I don't get it. Piracy is such a non-issue. I'd much rather spend time making the website better and easier to use. Bleh.
