“Freddy! Freddy!” Amanda skipped around the lab, scanning the room.
“I’m here.” Frederika answered. “At my desk, where I work.”
Aries found her there and leaned over her table with that dreadful smile.
“Also, it’s Frederika. No nicknames.”
“It’s four syllables. And you never call me by my preferred name either.”
“You’re my boss, I’m not going to call you by your gamertag. Be glad I don’t call you Dr. Reese.”
“Fine, anyway-” Amanda sat down on Frederika’s desk, “-how do you feel about making history?”
“Again?”
“Again! Come, come.” Amanda jumped back on her feet and walked off. Frederika had to follow.

Amanda led her to the break room. It was small, with a fridge and coffee machine, microwave and a mediocre view over Massachusetts.
“Just wait here.” Amanda said and closed the door behind her.
Frederika sat down at the table, where a bowl of cookies had been placed. She carefully nibbled on one to check if they had gone stale. Still crunchy.
