“It’s getting dark. We should find a place to rest.” Saif suggested.
Aarya appeared tired from walking in the sand for so long. It was harder to walk when the ground gave way ever so slightly with every step. The beach was otherwise perfect for travel. A wide open space where nothing could sneak up on you. And the Monids struggled even worse traversing the sands. That and the ocean stroking the land like absent-mindedly petting a cat on its lap was a soothing backdrop.

Still, it was time to return to firm ground. They could see a pier with an abandoned diner up ahead. A good spot to rest and scavenge. They walked barefoot on the wet strip being periodically reclaimed by earth and sea, so sand wouldn’t collect in their shoes. It was a bit like vacation.
