Today we turn... THREE! 3๏ธโƒฃ ๐Ÿฅณ

It's the third anniversary of me opening the the server to people other than myself. (I'm @CymechDraws.) Happy to make it this far! :host-love: I wanted to find a space for gender-marginalized people to talk about making creative work; I'd been part of a queer online space like that, and wanted something similar. After looking for something like it and not finding it, I decided to make it! Three years later, here we are.

It's been a joy to see people in the server make friends, share work, get advice from each other, or just hang out. That said, running it is a lot of work, and it wouldn't be possible if not for help from friends. A BIG THANK-YOU to the rest of the mod/admin team (@futureruins, @wori-works, @bloodmachine, @Spookybot, @ellisdex), as well as more private/past mods. Thanks also to Jannik Boysen (@sparkle) for hosting the Gender Constellation Bundle with us last year, and to Eric Merz (@MOKKA) for hosting our first internal game jam.

ANYHOW, for our third birthday, my co-admin Sol (@futureruins) ported the GDG website off of carrd! It's now hosted independently, and we have more creative control over it.

If you're a gender-/sex-marginalized dev (meaning a cis woman, trans woman, trans man, nonbinary person, bigender person, intersex person, or gender-non-conforming person), we welcome you to the space! Our goal is to be a hangout spot for people who deal with structural sexism, and are making their way in the field of game dev.

If that sounds interesting, you can find the invite form on our website! Otherwise, I hope you enjoy the work from folks in the server that we spotlight here :host-plead:

Here's to many more years! ๐Ÿš€๐ŸŒŸ

Side comment โ€“ if you sent an invite, and didnโ€™t receive a response, please check your spam! I can say nobody was ignored over the last three months. We do sometimes get people who think we rejected them, when that wasnโ€™t the case.

Reluctant to say our criteria, but unless youโ€™re into NFTs or similar, we usually at least respond.
