This special Queer Edition takes place between April 7 - April 22 to encourage queer developers to create a new commercial-friendly/"donationware" game to submit to the Queer Games Bundle 2023.

The first Only One of Any Asset Visual Novel Jam (O2A2 VN Jam) was a spur-of-the-moment game jam originally hosted by Mikey of ATP Projects in May 2020, where participants were tasked with creating a visual novel in one week with up to:
- one sprite / one character / one pose (multiple expressions without change in pose are okay)
- one background / one place / one time of day
- one illustration (in place of the one sprite and one background)
- one thousand words
- one background sound file (either one music track or one ambient background noise)
- one sound effect
- one voice actor
- etc.
These restrictions were actually quite freeing to many developers who constantly felt the need to make bigger and bigger projects that would take months or even years to complete, especially at the beginning of the COVID-19 lockdowns worldwide. With clear limits on the assets required for submissions, the original O2A2 VN Jam was met with positive reception, and what was meant to be a one-time event is now entering its fourth year of existence.
If you're an ally, we encourage you to help others out with their projects (aka, work with someone else on their team— just not as the lead creative).
If you do want to lead a project to post on your own account, O2A2 2023 will be coming back in its regular edition later this year (most likely in July), so keep you eyes peeled for future announcements!
We also kindly suggest you to purchase the bundle once it's out in June to support your fellow friends and gamedevs.
It's not a requirement, but we still encourage you to make a "donationware" game where people can at least tip you for your work!
O2A2 is a lovely, fun jam. If you have free time this year, and don't have anything to submit to this year's Queer Games Bundle, consider participating!
