i love film & i love learning how to break writing down into the eloquent and precise form of scene writing (as opposed to story arcs) because it's an interesting creative challenge but i think the rise of the netflix industrial complex + the idea that all stories have to break down into a 3 act structure has created the worst of all worlds wherein every 'so you want to write a novel' advice book/blog/common wisdom/whatever basically boils down to 'do you want to write a book? write a movie'
