I like how everyone else seems to have interpreted "Small Business Owners" as nice mom and pop stores, and I went straight to "oh, they definitely mobbed up"
When I was writing this I was definitely thinking more about "what is a small business if they can hire armed war machine pilots!" but I know a lot of sci-fi ttrpgs with mechs often fall into the rhythms of gig work, so i'm not surprised that people are eager to reimagine the place of Mechs in that context.
