tower of fantasy is underwhelming on like every level possible and yet im still playing it. the forced timegating of both level-caps and in-world goodies makes me feel unhinged, but i feel like i'll play anything that fills the BOTW2 shaped hole in my brain and also anything that lets me collect little weirdos.
i fell off of genshin because of how annoying the relic grind becomes at mid-high level and, more meaningfully, how much TIME it takes to do your daily little tasks, at least 30 minutes of focused game time eaten up by spamming domains or world bosses or whatever. for a game that marketed itself as The Genshin Killer it gets this part correct, making it a breeze to go thru your daily crap.
and while everything it apes from genshin it does slightly worse (3d gacha designs, meandering poorly localized story, music, overall stylistic cohesion), the unique bits are really stellar! having a fixed 80 pity guarantee on regular/limited banners is a godsend, as well as guaranteed SR's coming out of 10x pulls. on the limited banners you can spark at 120 pull currency for another guarantee, instead of forcing you to go double pity like Genshin would. air combat is also very fun, and weapons being characters simplifies things immensely (though having to do gacha for chips/relic equivalents is a little spooky, you can probably farm good enough ones from the world bosses)
the character creator is kinda great (as far as they go) and is definitely preferable compared to how either godawful or boring the SR/SSR character designs are. there's only one i'm excited for and he's a crossover character from Ling Cage (meaning he might not even get a global release) but he is just. John Videogames
i'll probably keep playing until i run out of overworld chests and balls to pick up, cause while the story has neat ideas (post apoc, fortnite time bubble) it really makes me feel like my brain cells are dying off 1 by 1 to go through the dialog
