Okay. Alright. At first I thought this was going to be another Wotakoi, where several otaku couples form in one friend group of working professionals and it's about their day to day happenings. And hey, there's nothing wrong with more Wotakoi. But this is so much more than another Wotakoi.

This is a series about the fear of being known. More than just hinging on asking if will they get together or not, My Ex-BF Loves BL is more introspective. Akado, the female lead, doesn't want people to know that she's a fujoshi. Katakura, the male lead, is afraid of people knowing he likes reading doujinshi about male romance. The female major supporting character, Kasuga, is worried that 24 is too late for a first relationship. And the male major supporting character, Silvio, is perfect. Their respective fears hold them almost all of them back from relationships as they fear emotional intimacy and are worried about not being accepted. The major characters push each other forward with meditations on what it means to love and be loved, alongside other sticky emotional questions, as they try to grow into people who are able to be in a relationship.

A very well told romance about personal growth. This is highly recommended. Sorry that it's hetero twice.
