You know what, I'm breaking schedule and powering through. This is the third and final(ish) roll of The Struggle Era.

Let's hit the highlights:

  • Spent 30 minutes trying to load the backing paper onto the development reel instead of the film itself.
  • Having decided Something is Wrong Here, I (mentally) flip a coin for which of the two things to pull through the bag and peek at what it is. Of course it was the film: 5 frames lost forever (from Marine Park in Sheepshead Bay, and the Naval Cemetery Landscape.)
  • End up with brutal unequal color development gradient on most surviving frames
  • Included here is a "self-portrait" of my newly acquired medium format scanner, in the condition it arrived. There was also some internal damage which created serious waving and stuttering (visible in its self-portrait) which thankfully a kind stranger online sent me a replacement part to resolve.

No kind internet stranger could save this roll, though. and no one can save me. My smile and optimism: gone. I am a shadow of the man I was before The Struggle Era.

Well at least the cat pictures weren't ruined.
