in general, it's fairly accepted that ships are referred to as she/her and i have noticed that a lot of the ships on the great lakes have masculine names, so sometimes i've seen people refer to them as he/him when discussing the boats. so i have surmised that two things can be true:
ships with masculine names but go by she/her are butch dykes and the ships that go by he/him are transmasculine. i officially declare great lakes shipping to be butch boat culture
