if anyone's looking for project ideas, a discord bot that scrapes chat and reproduces it in an archive with markdown files in the same folder structure as the discord is probably a good idea if it doesn't already exist

and if anyone made a good irc client or spec, people would actually use it, but history has not yet provided us with that answer.
I suppose the benefit of IRC is there's no illusions about how ephemeral it is.
