A thing I constantly marvel at is that San Francisco has _so many_ ice cream places

And I mean “companies that make and sell ice cream”, not just “companies that sell ice cream someone else made” (we have those too, like Ghirardelli).

Like, just off the top of my head:

  • Humphrey Slocombe
  • Bi-Rite
  • Smitten
  • Mitchell's
  • Hometown Creamery

I further marvel at the fact that so many of these places are open so late. All of the ones above are open until 10 or 11 PM or so.

PSA: a reminder that to keep an eye on the "COVID weather" you should know where your local health authority posts its wastewater statistics

  • antigen tests aren't free in the US any more, and nobody reported positives on them even when they were
  • as of the middle of last year antigen tests only had a 63% true positive rate against omicron variants (78% against symptomatic cases, which is still not great) and that probably hasn't gone up
  • you can't get a PCR test without a prescription now so basically the only people showing up in public test positivity statistics are being hospitalized

if you're in seattle, you want to hit up https://doh.wa.gov/emergencies/covid-19/data-dashboard#WasteWater and set the code of the water treatment plant to BWT (the Brightwater treatment plant, up in Bothell)

🎛 Capture One 21—I applied a mild saturation boost to the last couple of rolls and I think it helped a lot in making them not look flat
