Remembering the time when an anime company implexicably got Dimitri From Paris to cover his own song with a voice actor so they could use it as the OP for an anime
So, in 2009, Parov Stelar released his song “Catgroove”, one of the earliest electro-swing hits.
That was partly powered by the video that came out a year later of a YouTuber named takeSomeCrime dancing to the song in what appears to be a basement. That video, looking at it now, has more than twice as many views (53M) as the song's official YouTube audio post (22M).
Three years later, there comes a video game called Beatbuddy: Tale of the Guardians. As the title might imply, music features somewhat prominently in the gameplay (though it's not a straight-up rhythm game; it's more of a Metroidvania-like like Aquaria, Child of Light, Dust: An Elysian Tail, Iconoclasts, etc.).
And they got Parov Stelar to do a song for the game, titled “Beatbuddy Swing”.
And they got takeSomeCrime to do a video of it.
I remember, when the latter video came out, letting out an extremely specific “holy shit”.
