When an operator (translation: mod, admin, etc.) says a discussion topic is closed, say ABSOLUTELY NOTHING MORE about that topic.
You can talk about something (anything) else. In fact, it's good to do so! It will help transmute the bad vibes into better ones. Or, you can discuss the topic somewhere ENTIRELY else.
But you DO NOT say ANYTHING more on it in that venue. Do not apologize. Do not explain. Do not say one more word on the subject.
Touching it again—AT ALL, in any way—irritates a wound that was healing. It risks further inflammation (yes, whatever you were thinking of saying, even that). It is bad. Do not do it.
I have learned this lesson the hard way and I have seen people make the same mistake too many times in my life to count. Learn from those who came before. When an op/mod/admin says a topic is dead, bury it. Talk about something else, or do something else, but leave that topic completely the hell alone.
(Also do not add “one more thing” to a discussion that everyone was glad had already died. That's at least as bad if not worse.)
