Why do you use the linux distro that you do?
Just kinda woke up in the mood to hear about how people chose their distros today. Mostly interested in desktop use more than servers, unless you feel like your story there is particularly interesting. I assume some desktop choices will also just be "it's the first thing I tried and it works".
I'm on Fedora because I have to use RHEL at work, so a lot of what I learn about administering my own system at home can be applied to work and vice versa. Also, I like having up to date versions of most software with a bit more stability than arch.
I'm also a big fan of GNOME. I think the UI is pretty and I'm not really sure why so many people hate it.
I did once have a RHEL minimal install with all the packages manually installed on it like you would do configuring an arch system (eg awesome wm and suckless terminal). It wasn't stable at all, but it was funny.
