source decay is sung by cyrus and the old best friend is jeff. cyrus got sent off to the correctional facility and it destroyed his spirit while jeff managed to escape his home and lives the pirates life. jeff sends postcards to cyrus trying to reignite his soul while cyrus is just trying to lead a peaceful life. the song is about the friction cyrus feels between the extingusihed pilot light in his soul that jeffs is trying to reignite and the desire to not fuck up what little bit of stablity cyrus has been able to find in the years since the facility. its not about jenny
