"hi-res audio" is a marketing term. a higher bitrate/bitdepth is useful mostly when you will be manipulating the signal, like boosting a very quiet sound to be very loud in the final product. but the final product will not use that big of a dynamic range. the mastering matters so much more than the "resolution"
