i wanna replace the hydraulic brakes on my bike with cable ones. much prefer dealing with tightening a cable now and then to having to worry about . fluids n leaks n shit
i do not want the best brakes i want simple brakes i can service on the side of the road with a multitool and i dont want to deal with fluid levels for my gosh damn bicycle. "oh yeah i need to service my bike. let me go grab the funnel kit" sentences from the utterly deranged
cable disc brakes arent really that simple and do require more frequent adjustment than hydraulic discs or rim brakes but my bike cant fit rim brakes (which is really what i want) and i dont like hydraulics on my bike so
i also wanna get one of those friction shifters that dont have clicks and you set by just moving it to the right position. id keep the click shifter for the front cause theres only 2 gears there but i dont like having to click through the rear gears a bunch to get it in the right gear to shift the front one
order of operations for my bike is
- get a rear rack so i dont have to use a backpack
- friction rear shifter
- cable disc brakes
and also paint it brown somewhere along the way
