indie as a term has never meant anything and should be disposed of in essentially all contexts
it seems to have gone through the exact same path in games as it did in music. as music recording became accessible to people outside the major label system it spawned a bunch of people making music which led to independent labels, who had a ball for a while before getting bought up by majors as the music industry collapsed in the late 90s early 00s, and the term indie became an aesthetic rather than a relation to production. as an outside observer, games seem to be going through the same process
stop calling indie games indie and call them underground or diy or something idk
