playing with microwave transformers is not only safe but fun!!! just make sure to ground yourself thoroughly. hold on to a metal railing, stand in a puddle etc. in the rare event you accidentally get a shock from it you want to make sure the electricity has a nice path to ground so it wont build up in your body

yeah it's so safe that it's definitely worth the minimal risk of a horrible painful death in order to get those cool cool fractals burned into wood (really putting your everything into making those gifts for your loved ones!!)
