Just tacking on with the other posts I've been seeing lately. Beyond anything else, I've personally felt a kind of urgency in the past year in particular, more motivated than I have with past "collecting for collecting sake". If anything nowadays I'm not just acquiring things I want to watch/play/listen to/etc. but also doing so for someone else. A new desire to make sure I have a thing that my friends or family would feasibly want to have access to, bridging the inevitable gap when that thing is taken away or system failure (a.k.a. capitalist success, har!) occurs. Feeling the extended, varied collections of us all more readily these days, as the sharing of it and enjoyment of it together is the implied baseline.
