I sometimes like working on never-to-be-finished video game projects

Right now I'm making a game called Chronicles.

Wanna make a game? Here is a list of great C++ libraries to use.

I maintain a Letterboxd in much the way that I assume people maintain bonsai trees.

@cullen posted about this and I had never heard of it before. It's a very simple little thing made in September '21 by 1 maybe 2 developers in Python and it fucking rocks.

Things that I like about this game

  • All abilities are unlocked from the start, no grinding out hours of rogue-lite to unlock new build potentials. You have full control of the entirety of build options from your first run. If you're into build-crafting in games it's just so pure. There's little-to-no RNG involved with character progression.
  • While the floors are randomly generated, you can fully preview a floor before committing to it and thus choose floors that are a fit for your build.
  • The spell effects are all really cool and fun to watch.
  • The art is minimal and reads very easily.

It's such a snappy, perfectly-scoped thing that people can play for 10 hours or a hundred. And it has 800+ reviews on steam! It really seems like there's an audience out there legit hungry for more Nethack/DCSS/TOME (which means I should probably plug my own project playing in similar places :host-joy:)

Anyway it's $15 you should try it~
