Having a hard time not being cynical about Starfield. If it was 10 years ago I'd be losing my mind in excitement but it all just sounds like snake oil and not even like enticing snake oil.
"Apply this oil for tens of hours of a mediocre time!"
Thousands of hours in the elder scrolls old and new but Fallout 4 just completely flopped for me. It really gave me a chip on my shoulder about what BGS is capable of delivering. There have been so many incredible games in the decade+ since Skyrim that have eaten their past and future lunches.
If Skyrim coined the phrase "See that mountain you can go there" and Fallout 4 begged the question "but why would you want to?" Then large games now are putting real effort into making those distant things you see exciting and filling you with motivation to reach them. This is effort I'm not seeing in any of this prerelease.
Instead I see another enormous playground where that face model can make that face at you as it spits out a dialog tree and then you go shoot some health bars. But hey at least the physics and scripting bugs will make for some great gifs on the internet.
