I sometimes like working on never-to-be-finished video game projects

Right now I'm making a game called Chronicles.

Wanna make a game? Here is a list of great C++ libraries to use.

I maintain a Letterboxd in much the way that I assume people maintain bonsai trees.

I have spent a free hour whenever I can spare it for over a month now staring into the complex system I want to make work in Chronicles and have gone through several different stages of grief.

Currently my thinking on it is that the thing I'm trying to accomplish is actually very difficult and complicated and hard to get right rather than I'm just an idiot.

So that feels like an improvement.

Back when I was finishing high school, I was really into Game Maker and spent a lot of time on the old GBC forums. There were the big hits like Jumper but then there were about 800 thousand simple sprite rips and pokemon fan-games. Being the smarmy piece of shit I was in those days, I spent a lot of time on a game project that parodied those.

Everyone knows that the key to making friends is gatekeeping creative output!

Part of my last post broke down the actions system I'm working on. Part of this is being able to define arbitrary targeting concepts including directable patterns!

As always shout-out to ImGui which empowers me to whip up editors like this extremely quickly. I also have code-generated reflection for a lot of my structs so hooking up custom UI to specific data structures is really easy and further speeds up that effort.
