Ive been pondering making a cohost gamedev server cuz theres so many people I'd love to keep in touch with but i dont know if i know well enough to just dm on discord randomly. But also i dont know if i can fit running a potentially very large discord server into my life right now

I might do this but leave it to only people I know, because I super don't want to have to deal with Big Problems if Big Problems happening. Im already running the Frogsong server and helping moderate another server. Not sure if any of my mutuals would be interested in a tiny gamedev server of cohost dev refugees....

had a similar thought this morning. I was generally thinking about having some kind of space the gives people room to work through ideas/problems might be nice. At the same time, I would the worst kind of person to be involved in organizing something like this.

🪐We started a server once when we were popular on Twitter as a "hey everyone come on in" kind of deal. It did not go well

I do like the idea of a small server for cohost gamedevs, however, it's difficult to have a Discord server that will last when everyone jumps in there and there's no established vibe. I do not mean to dissuade you, just to say "we've made the mistake and it's not great." Our current server grew over time, and is much better, but it started out as a small Patreon only server and grew from there

I think what I'm getting at with this is, the small server idea is better

Yeah something with just friends/mutuals might be good.

Several years ago on Tumblr I ran a blog for a low effort Kirby shitpost comic I did that somehow got relatively popular and I made a server for it and I think I had just turned 18 so i was still pretty much a child and. turns out kirby shitposts attract a lot of racists and transphobes
