I don't even particularly like or care about Star Wars but the idea of a 'new jedi order era' is so offensive to me, like holy shit just naked and empty let's do the action figures over and over again for all eternity type stuff

in reply to @bruno's post:

me, i like star wars plenty. but i always think that it should probably trend toward the cycle being broken. you can still make cool new guys to shoot first swing around the laser swords and say snarky lines and fly space ships for eternity without them falling back on the endless iterations Republics and Empires and Jedi and Sith? because returning to the Same Old Ways - simply settling for defeating the Bad Guys for now, for just restoring the Old Government like it used to be (you know, the one known for its corruptibility), for retracting back into the rigid and inflexible Space Wizard ways - always just causes the problems to happen again with a different face and name

Right, and after awhile it feels like a hollow exercise. The good guys winning should feel like an actual victory instead of a constant "until we drip-feed the next installment and hope it doesn't suck as much this time around".

i know the New Jedi Order's the EU and whatever so very slight topic change but i personally think the sequel films really could have been winding up for something more Real, even if they were yet another iteration of the same old song and dance? but Rise of Skywalker really ultimately punted the pooch on that front i feel

edit: wait fuck i dont pay attention to news ignore the first part
