I tried that and liked it in theory but it would always cause frustration, in particular on Android. Firefox would get stuck in loops refreshing the entire page to apply the new mode, booting me out of the video I was watching in the progress.
I got a program called f.lux that tints your screen red as bedtime approaches
This is actually something I don't mind much, though I am now realizing that only the systems I don't use often are set that way
