What do people use for backlogged/letterboxd style tracking of books? Is it still just Goodreads? Is there some alternative now that Goodreads is kind of one big ad for Amazon?

Seconding storygraph! I don’t use any online logging services anymore but I used it for a while and it worked pretty nicely
Storygraph lacks alot of features that I understand Goodreads and other tracking websites to have, but it does what I need it to do in terms of reminding me what I'm reading, and what I've already read. It's in pretty active development so the lack of features is subject to change.
i had been using storygraph, but now they're experimenting with ai sludge so welp
I use https://readinglist.app/ plus a complex sequence of levers and pulleys to turn it into a published website. But it’s perfect for tracking if you just want the tracking for yourself.
I use Library Thing because I'm a data freak, but the most common alternative is Storygraph.
I just saw a friend post about an app called Bookshelf that they really like and used all year - it seems to be iOS only and the main page advertises AI suggestions (sure ok whatever) but it’s a solo developer and doesn’t require any kind of registration to get started, so 🤷♂️
I tried Storygraph for a bit but it felt even worse than Goodreads for me. It feels very... genre fiction, for lack of a better word. Every time I'd log a book it'd quiz me on whether the main characters were "relatable" or whatever, which felt completely alienating. They also launched an AI feature, which if I wasn't already off it would have convinced me to quit.
