Like in a general sense, a lot of the delta between Cohost and Tumblr – the lack of an algorithmic timeline at all, no DMs, less comprehensive notifications, etc – are things that Tumblr added sometime between 2014 and now, and which were unpopular at the time on Tumblr.

something that’s important to note here: this is gonna be meaningless to a lot of the folks leaving tumblr to cohost. some of these people were 9-12 years old when some of those features were added. many of them are not going to have ever known a Tumblr without them.
Oh for sure! It's just odd to see from the perspective of someone who was on tumblr back then.
Yeah, having considered tumblr to have basically died in ~2015 despite vaguely maintaining a queue there it's wild to me
