did I just watch like, nearly a full fourth quarter of jose alvarado playing on two twisted ankles while brandon ingram sat on the bench for some reason
CJ McCollum, too. Like I get that they were not playing well earlier in that game but just how deep is Willie Green's doghouse that he won't put them in even when things turn desperate after his actual star player goes down.
My guy was expecting Alvarado, Jones, and Nance to constitute an offence somehow? Like how do you imagine a possibility of winning that game if that's your closer lineup?
It's maddening to me because, you know, you're supposed to play to your outs. You're supposed, when you're disfavored to win, to ask yourself: what's my path to victory, however improbable?
And like, Alvarado was basically at the top of his game even on two bad ankles? Him and Larry Nance weren't going to salvage that game no matter how well they played. Their best isn't good enough. You need, in that situation, to look at McCollum and go: this dude is over the hill, he's ice cold, he's been awful for several games, and him getting hot from three point range for just a few minutes is my only hope.
The only word that describes this is 'punt'. Willie green has discovered a way to punt in basketball.
