Tech boosterism is often driven by naive extrapolations, but the reality is that technology often plateaus quickly after a major advancement. For example, after Sony launched the Walkman in 1979, many theorized rapid advancement in portable cassette players. But in reality, a Sony Runman has never left the prototype stage, and to this day the Sony Flyman remains merely theoretical.
